ジョニ・ミッチェルのミュージック・キャリアを俯瞰する壮大なるプロジェクト“アーカイヴ・シリーズ”この秋スタート決定

時代・地域を超えて多くの音楽リスナー、ミュージシャンから変わらぬ共感と尊敬を集めるシンガー・ソング・ライター、ジョニ・ミッチェルが初めて自らの倉庫のドアを開けた。
910日米国ライノ・レコードはジョニの協力のもと発見された国宝級の音源を、丹念に調査、レストアし数年かけて““アーカイヴ・シリーズ”として発表することを明らかにした。
その第一弾は『アーカイヴスVol. 1〜アーリー・イヤーズ(1963-1967)』で1968年ジョニがリプリーズ・レコードからデビューする以前の貴重な音源が収録された5枚組CDボックセットとなる。
このアーカイヴは1963年故郷カナダ・サスカチュワン州サスカトゥーンにあったラジオ局CFQC29出演したときに披露したアニマルズやボブ・ディランでお馴染みのアメリカン・トラッド・ソング「朝日のあたる家」でスタートする。ジョニ最初期の音源で彼女は19歳だった。
続く6時間にも及ぶこのアーカイヴ VOL. 1には未公開ホーム・デモ、ライヴ音源、ラジオ出演時の音源など興味のつきない「財宝」がちりばめられていて、ジョニの類いまれな才能とその成長過程を垣間みることが出来る。
29もの未発表の自作曲が含まれていることは特筆に値する。ブックレットは40ページに及び多くの未発表の写真と映画監督キャメロン・クロウ(『あの頃、ペニー・レインと』『バニラ・スカイ』)がジョニに直接取材し書き下ろした解説を収録している。このボックスセットのアメリカでの発売は1030日。
日本盤は歌詞、解説の日本語訳が添付され1125日にリリースされる。
